The FBI says that it has acquired over 3,000 suggestions associated to the drone sightings, with many of the purported observations occurring at evening.

The FBI and Division of Homeland Safety (DHS) stated in a joint assertion on Thursday that there was “no proof presently that the reported drone sightings pose a nationwide safety or public security risk or have a overseas nexus.”

In a letter to President Joe Biden requesting extra federal assets to research the matter, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy stated that since November 18 state police have been receiving studies of UAS [unmanned aircraft systems] sightings in New Jersey’s airspace. It is essential to notice that the FBI is main the investigation into the matter whereas the DHS is taking part in a supportive position for New Jerseyans.

“They’re mendacity to us. First, they are saying you are not seeing what you are seeing. There’s nothing right here, nothing right here to be seen. After which they inform us that they do not know what it’s. They do not know what’s occurring. It is all a lie,” the state official stated.

Peterson talked about his first-hand expertise with the reported drones.

“I’ve seen the drones myself exterior my home. I stay in a rural a part of New Jersey the place there isn’t any lights. We do not have streetlights. We do not have something. It will get darkish at evening. You may see very clearly we’re not in any flight path for any airways or different craft. And you’ll search for within the sky and see these drones and the way in which that they are transferring, they transfer ahead, they cease, they hover, they transfer sideways, they cease, they hover, they transfer backwards. It is clearly not an airplane. It is not a helicopter as a result of it is not making any noise. And so, it is a drone. They usually’re a number of of them,” Peterson stated.

He continued: “After which they inform us, you are not seeing drones, you are mistaken id. So, you go on Flightradar24 and you may see that there isn’t any planes within the space. So, they’re simply mendacity to us that we’re not seeing what we’re seeing. And extra importantly, they’re mendacity to us that it is not a security risk.”

Newsweek reached out to DHS for remark and the company referred to Mayorkas’ current CNN interview.

“It is vitally widespread for people who assume they see drones, to really see small plane and we have now a case of mistaken id. Additionally, we have now six completely different folks reporting what they assume is a drone and abruptly we have now studies of six drone sightings. So, there’s some duplication,” the secretary stated.

Mayorkas stated that he has been in touch with Murphy day by day and the DHS has its “state-of-the-art expertise” and consultants on the bottom in New Jersey.

“That expertise has not confirmed any drone sightings. As well as, it has confirmed that some reported drone sightings are in actual fact small plane. Pilots haven’t reported seeing drones. That is to not say that there aren’t drones flying within the air, however we have now no concern at this level with respect to a risk or any nefarious exercise,” Mayorkas stated.
