Kevin Maher was sworn in because the Halton Regional Police Service’s (HRPS) new Deputy Chief of Police at a ceremony on the Atrium Banquet and Convention Centre in Burlington on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
The formal swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Halton Police Board, MPs, MPPs, neighborhood leaders, religion leaders, native and regional councillors, HRPS Senior Commanders, and various uniformed and civilian members of the Service.
Deputy Chief Maher joins Chief Stephen Tanner, Deputy Chief Roger Wilkie and Deputy Chief Jeff Hill in management of the greater than 1,100 robust police service that proudly serves Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills. Collectively, they may assist the HRPS new mission of One Staff – Folks First.
Deputy Maher brings with him 37 years of policing expertise to his new function, 34 of which have been with the HRPS. Through the years, he has served in various front-line and specialised investigative models. For the final 9 years, he has been a member of the Service’s senior government management crew – most not too long ago because the Superintendent answerable for Regional Investigations and as one of many Service’s six Vital Incident Commanders.
