An Ontario judge is set to announce her decision on the sexual assault charges against Canadian businessman Frank Stronach this Friday, bringing a close to a widely followed case.

Stronach founded and once led Magna International, a significant Canadian auto parts manufacturer.

He’s regarded as a key success story in Canadian business, having established one of the largest companies in the nation, which has appeared on the Fortune Global 500 list for over twenty years.

In 2024, Peel Regional Police charged Stronach with 18 offences involving 13 individuals, divided into two separate trials.

The accusations pertain to alleged incidents of sexual assault from the 1970s through the ’90s.

Stronach, who is now 93, has pleaded not guilty to 12 charges related to seven complainants.

As the trial in Toronto unfolded during winter and spring, prosecutors dropped five charges concerning three of the women. This left Stronach facing seven charges linked to four women.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Anne Molloy, overseeing the case, stated she “couldn’t possibly” convict him based on one complainant’s testimony which she found unreliable.

Two of those charges involve that complainant who claims Stronach raped her in the early ’80s.

A separate trial for additional charges will occur next year in Newmarket, Ont.

Born in Austria, Stronach gained prominence and wealth after launching Magna from a rented garage back in the ’50s and transforming it into a global conglomerate.

He also created the Stronach Group focused on horse racing and later established Stronach International in 2018 aimed at organic foods and “micro-electric mobility.”

The judge presiding over this trial is expected to deliver her ruling on Friday morning.
