Commuters and motorists handled messy climate situations as an in a single day snowfall blanketed Toronto and components of the Higher Toronto Space (GTA).

Surroundings Canada warned that heavy snowfall with accumulations of 5 to 10 centimetres was anticipated to fall on Thursday evening and into Friday morning. 

A winter climate journey advisory was lifted for Toronto and far of the GTA on Friday morning. Nonetheless, the alert stays in impact for some components of the province, together with Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.

The snow tapered to mild flurries Friday afternoon as a band of lake impact snow off Lake Ontario shifts to the south.

Motorists travelling via Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Halton Hills, Milton, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, St. Catharines and the Northern Niagara Area skilled hazardous winter driving situations on Thursday evening, which persevered via the early morning hours.

Snow squall watches had been in place for different areas on Friday, together with Goderich, Sarnia, London and Strathroy.

The Metropolis of Toronto opened 4 warming centres as temperatures dipped beneath zero on Thursday evening.

The temperature on Friday stays regular at round -2 C, with the wind chill making it really feel like -9 C. The weekend is anticipated to be bitterly chilly, with daytime temperatures round -9 C and -10 C, feeling extra like -17 on Saturday and -11 on Sunday with the wind chill.
