Ontario Premier Doug Ford has confirmed he will be sending residents to the polls on Feb. 27.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has confirmed he’ll name a snap election this winter.

At a information convention in Brampton Jan. 24, Ford confirmed he would meet with the lieutenant governor to dissolve the provincial parliament on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

In accordance with the Ontario Election Act, as amended in 2005, the writ for an election “shall be dated on a Wednesday.”

The method of drawing up the writs launches a 28-day election interval.

‘Tremendous caucus’ assembly Saturday

Conservative MPPs are already assembly for a ‘tremendous caucus’ assembly on Saturday, Jan. 25.

“I’m asking for a mandate … from the people of Ontario to make sure that we protect them,” Ford mentioned in a Ontario Chronicle interview Thursday. “The ‘super caucus’ event, we’re having everyone by and having a good chat, telling them what’s going on regarding the tariffs, what’s going on here in Ontario.” 

It is also a chance for Conservatives to speak about election technique.

An election is estimated to price between $150 million and $175 million.

The following provincial election was really presupposed to happen in June 2026.
