Baby dead after Scarborough house fire, man in custody, Toronto police say
A Scarborough house fire near Finch Avenue and Brimley Road has left a baby dead. Three other people were found injured in the home. A man, 38, suffered self-inflicted critical injuries and is in custody. The baby died in hospital, police say. (Daniel Dadoun/CBC)

An eight-month previous child has died in hospital after a Scarborough home hearth on Saturday, Toronto police say.

The newborn was pronounced deceased in hospital regardless of “heroic” efforts from police, paramedics, firefighters and medical doctors and nurses on the hospital to save lots of the infant’s life, Husain mentioned.

Police, firefighters and paramedics had been referred to as to the home close to Finch Avenue and Brimley Highway round 11:15 a.m. The fireplace is now out.

“We perceive that it is a very tragic occasion and will have an effect on the group and the household concerned,” Husain advised reporters.

Toronto police’s murder unit, Toronto Hearth Providers and Ontario’s Workplace of the Hearth Marshal are investigating the incident.
