A person is deceased and two others are severely injured after a pit collapsed on them on Wednesday, Toronto police say.

Police stated the boys had been fixing a sewer pipe within the Bayview Avenue and Ruddington Avenue space when the pit collapsed at about 5:25 p.m.

Platoon Chief Chris Rowland, spokesperson for Toronto Fireplace Companies, stated the three staff had been inspecting water pipes in an excavation behind a facility, inserting a digital camera in a pipe, when one of many partitions of the positioning buckled and a considerable amount of soil fell on prime of them.

Rowland stated Toronto Fireplace Companies initially put ladders within the gap and introduced shovels however rapidly realized it was a trench rescue. Two crews with ropes went into the outlet, he stated.
