The reopening of the renovated Kinsmen Bridge has been postponed to early 2026.
A report presented to Tillsonburg council on Monday, Dec. 8 stated that while the replacement project for the Kinsmen Bridge is still on schedule and within budget, its reopening has been pushed back from this month to March 2026.
Carlos Reyes, Tillsonburg’s director of operations & development, informed councillors that complications with bridge supports led to the delay as designers and consultants discussed what needed to be done.
“By the time that we got to an agreement with what was needed for the bridge and submitted all the information to the supplier, that was going to create a significant delay of two to three months,” Reyes said.
“It’s unfortunate. Having said that, it was a very aggressive timeline for completion of a project of that magnitude.”

Reyes added that staff don’t expect any further issues at this point.
A report from Leo Ferreira, manager of engineering, mentioned that progress on the project is going well and staff are continuing routine management activities and controls.
