THUNDER BAY – City workers are hard at work on snow removal today after about 15 cm of snow fell overnight, with strong winds causing significant drifting in various areas.

Clearing Priority Routes First

Road crews started plowing priority routes-including major roads, collector streets, and transit paths-at 2:00 a. m. The City expects this task to be finished soon.

Residential Street Plowing Starts After 9 a. m.

Plowing for residential streets is set to begin after 9:00 a. m., once the priority routes have been cleared. Residential plowing should be completed by the end of Wednesday.

Sidewalks and Trails Update

Waterfront District Sidewalks at 11:00 AM

The clearing of sidewalks on arterial, collector, and core-area streets started at 3:00 a. m. and is expected to wrap up by the end of today. After that, crews will move on to clear residential sidewalks and trails, aiming for completion by the end of Thursday.

Ongoing Sanding and Salting

Sanding and salting operations kicked off at 5:00 p. m. yesterday and continued through the night. Residential streets will get sanded once priority routes have been taken care of.
