An officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service has been criminally charged with theft below $5,000 and breach of belief.
The police service issued a information launch concerning the charges late Friday afternoon, saying it carried out an inner investigation after receiving a criticism.
“The officer has been suspended with pay in accordance with laws. As this matter is now earlier than the courtroom, the Thunder Bay Police Service is unable to supply additional remark or info,” police stated within the information launch.
The officer dealing with charges has not been named.
“Sustaining public confidence is a prime precedence and I thank those that displayed the braveness to talk out,” stated police chief Darcy Fleury within the launch.
