Ontario Provincial Police issued a media launch Wednesday morning, advising of the closure in Wawa, Ont., going west to White River and south to Sault Ste. Marie.
“The OPP advises motorists to keep away from any pointless journey as driving situations are deteriorating,” reads the media launch from police.
Atmosphere Canada has issued snow squall warnings for Marathon and Schreiber, together with areas additional east by Agawa and Lake Superior Park.
The company says heavy lake impact snow with further accumulations of 15 to twenty centimetres is feasible.
The snow from Lake Superior will proceed by the day, combined with southwesterly winds gusting to 50 kilometres an hour.
