A bit of Freeway 17 is closed in each instructions as a result of poor climate situations, as some north shore areas brace for snow squalls.

Ontario Provincial Police issued a media launch Wednesday morning, advising of the closure in Wawa, Ont., going west to White River and south to Sault Ste. Marie.

“The OPP advises motorists to keep away from any pointless journey as driving situations are deteriorating,” reads the media launch from police.

Atmosphere Canada has issued snow squall warnings for Marathon and Schreiber, together with areas additional east by Agawa and Lake Superior Park.

The company says heavy lake impact snow with further accumulations of 15 to twenty centimetres is feasible.

The snow from Lake Superior will proceed by the day, combined with southwesterly winds gusting to 50 kilometres an hour.

“Snow squalls trigger climate situations to fluctuate significantly. Adjustments from clear skies to heavy snow inside just some kilometres are frequent. Journey is predicted to be hazardous as a result of lowered visibility in some places,” reads the climate alert from Atmosphere Canada.

A winter climate journey advisory can also be in impact for Nipigon and Rossport areas. Native snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 centimetres by early afternoon is feasible.
