The federal government is backing the growth of electric vehicle charging stations in Ontario.

Over $5 million is being allocated for this purpose.

Some of these stations will be located in northwestern Ontario.

AUX Energy plans to set up nine stations in Fort Frances and Sudbury, receiving $36 thousand in funding.

Other companies are looking to establish another 200 stations across Ontario, though specific locations have not been revealed yet.

The Ivy Charging Network, which already has stations in northwestern Ontario, will invest over $2 million to add 44 new charging units.

Quantum EV Inc. aims to install 74 units throughout the province with a funding amount of $573,265.

Cap EV Group Ltd. will spend $410 thousand on setting up 82 Level 2 chargers in British Columbia and Ontario.

Ontario Power Generation Inc. is set to receive $105 thousand for the installation of 21 Level 2 electric vehicle chargers.
