Meet the 2025 candidates within the Kiiwetinoong using

Meet the 2025 candidates in the Kiiwetinoong riding

Kiiwetinoong has the biggest land space of any provincial electoral using, in addition to one of many smallest inhabitants bases.

The using is the one one in Ontario to have a majority Indigeneous inhabitants. The boundaries of Kiiwetinoong are dwelling to the municipalities of Sioux Lookout, Crimson Lake and Pickle Lake, in addition to a number of First Nations together with Sandy Lake, Pikangikum, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, Eabametoong and Neskantaga.

The candidates in alphabetical order by surname are as follows:

Sol Mamakwa, NDP

Incumbent Sol Mamakwa gained the younger using’s earlier two elections. Whereas at Queen’s Park, Mamakwa has served because the celebration’s critic on Indigenous and treaty relations. He’s the one First Nation legislator within the province.  

Previous to being elected in 2018, Mamakwa had been the lead well being advisor for Nishnawbe Aski Nation.

Waylon Scott, PC

Waylon Scott is the present chief of Wabaseemoong Unbiased Nations, an Ojibway band authorities that features communities of One Man Lake, Swan Lake and Whitedog. 

He was concerned within the Kenora Chief’s Advisory’s buy of land for the All Nations Hospital mission, and has voiced help for Kenora’s Indigenous-led Homelessness and Dependancy Restoration Therapy (HART) hub.

Carolyn Spicer, Inexperienced

Carolyn Spicer joined the provincial Inexperienced celebration in 2018. Beforehand, she labored as a Fish and Wildlife technologist for the Ministry of Pure Sources, in response to a launch from the Inexperienced Celebration of Ontario. 

The Liberals haven’t but introduced a candidate.
