The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Nipigon is investigating after an airplane carried out an emergency touchdown on Freeway 11.
OPP have been dispatched to a report of a airplane crash about 20 kilometres up Freeway 11 from the junction of 11-17 on Friday shortly after 5 p.m.
Officers discovered a single small engine airplane parked in the course of the freeway, police mentioned.
“It was decided that the airplane had mechanical points through the flight, requiring it to conduct an emergency touchdown onto the freeway. The pilot was unhurt, and there was minor injury to the airplane,” mentioned Sgt. Hayley Mcleary, regional media and communications co-ordinator for the detachment.
The Transportation Security Board was notified. The airplane was safely moved off the freeway, which was reopened, police mentioned.
Police ask anybody with details about the incident to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or submit info anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or on-line at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
