Within the early hours of Saturday morning, St. Thomas police say that an officer on patrol noticed a person on Talbot Avenue on a bicycle that had beforehand dedicated a number of site visitors violations.
When the officer tried to cease the person together with his emergency lights, the person ignored him. The officer drove up beside him and informed him that he was required to cease and reply to his costs, the person dropped the bike, and fled on foot.
The officer situated him close by and demanded that he determine himself. The suspect gave a pretend identify and birthday.
The officer tried to arrest the person; nonetheless he resisted arrest. The officer referred to as for backup.
Whereas the officer continued to try to arrest the person, he threatened the officer and stated that he had a knife – pointing a ‘long metal object’ towards the officer and saying that he would stab him.
The officer let him go in concern for his security, and the suspect ran away. The officer chased him down and deployed a TASER.
The weapon was recovered and revealed to be a screwdriver.
The person was checked for accidents and cleared by hospital employees, and now faces costs of obstructing a peace officer, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, failure to adjust to launch orders, and two Freeway Site visitors Act violations.
