A man has died after police reported that a tent caught fire in a wooded area in St. Catharines, Ont.
According to Niagara regional police, they were on patrol around 3:15 a. m. Tuesday when officers discovered a “large active fire involving a tent” at Mountain Locks Park along Merritt Trail.
St. Catharines Fire Services responded quickly and put out the flames, but unfortunately, the tent had already been “consumed by fire,” stated St. Catharines deputy fire chief Trevor Parker.
The criminal investigative branch of the Niagara Regional Police Service and the Ontario fire marshal’s office are investigating further, as confirmed by police.
