How does this work?
Niagara Regional Police used footage from a surveillance camera to help them arrest a man they say was holding a knife after a foot chase late Monday evening (Apr. 29) in St. Catharines.
Police responded to reports of an armed man allegedly wielding a knife towards another unidentified man in the area of Church St. and Queenston St. around 11:25 a.m.
Upon their arrival, the suspect fled towards Niagara St. Police, aided by the use of live camera monitoring from NRPS Real Time Operations Centre, were able to find his location and subsequently arrested the male suspect without incident near Niagara St. and Queenston St.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Brian Hamilton, 39, of no fixed address was arrested and has been charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
Hamilton was released and is schedule to attend a court date on June 11, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
