A man has died after a crash involving an e-bike and a bus in St. Catharines, according to the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS).

Police arrived at the scene of the accident at the intersection of King Street and Carlisle Street around 6:30 p. m. on Friday.

Initial reports indicate that a male riding an e-bike collided with a transit bus, police stated in a news release on Monday.

When officers got there, they confirmed that the e-bike had hit the side of the bus. The rider of the e-bike, a 55-year-old man from St. Catharines, was declared dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among those on the bus, according to police.

As per police findings so far, it appears that the e-bike operator went through the intersection against a red light.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to reach out to NRPS.
