On Monday, at roughly 1:15 a.m., 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded alongside the St. Catharines Hearth Division and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) for a motorcar collision on Glenridge Avenue, within the space between Lockhart Drive and John Macdonell Road within the Metropolis of St. Catharines.
Preliminary investigation has decided a Pink Pontiac Vibe was travelling north on Glenridge Avenue when the car misplaced management, crossing into the oncoming lane and collided with a snowplow travelling south on Glenridge Avenue.
Tragically, the driving force of the Pontiac Vibe, a 19-year-old St. Catharines resident, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They’re being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Companies Unit. The collision stays beneath investigation.
