Three Charged After Woman Set Ablaze While Sleeping
Attempted murder charges laid after woman set on fire while she slept in Ontario

Three individuals have been charged with attempted murder after a woman was set on fire while she was asleep in Ontario.

Emergency services responded to an apartment near Vine Street and Scott Street in St. Catharines around 11 p. m. on Saturday, August 16, according to Niagara Regional Police.

Upon arrival, officers found a female victim suffering from severe burns to her upper body and face. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police reported.

Investigators determined that the victim was intentionally targeted by three people known to her, according to police.

The suspects allegedly entered her apartment and used an accelerant to ignite her while she slept.

On Monday, August 18, two individuals were charged with attempted murder.

Chassidy Archer, a 25-year-old woman from St. Catharines, faces charges of attempted murder as well as break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Moises Medeiros, a 30-year-old man also from St. Catharines, has been charged with attempted murder along with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, carrying a concealed weapon, and violating probation terms.

A third suspect connected to this incident was arrested in St. Catharines on Monday, August 25, police stated.

Rebecca Daigneault, a 37-year-old woman residing in St. Catharines, is facing charges of attempted murder as well as break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and failing to comply with a probation order.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone who has information related to this case is urged to contact police at 905-688-4111, dial option 3, extension 1009610.
