A man has lost his life after a shooting in St. Catharines, Ont., on Monday morning, according to police.
The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) reported that officers were dispatched to a shooting at the intersection of Carlton Street and Athlone Place around 3:40 a. m. ET.
“When officers arrived, they located an adult male inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds,” police said in a news release.
The man was transported to a hospital, where he later passed away, police stated.

The area surrounding the intersection will be closed for part of the day, NRPS mentioned, and there will be a “heavy police presence.”
The NRPS confirmed that homicide detectives are looking into the case. No arrests have been made as of Monday morning.
