A 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash that occurred north of Duckworth Street on Wednesday morning, according to police reports.

Update (2 p. m.)

This morning, a Barrie resident lost his life in a collision on Highway 400, just north of Duckworth Street.

Officers were dispatched following a 911 call about a vehicle that had overturned on Highway 400 North. The body of the 29-year-old man was found at the site.

Currently, some lanes are closed for repairs to a damaged guardrail near the accident area and to assist with vehicle removal.

If anyone has information or dash cam footage from this incident, they’re urged to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or via crimestopperssdm. com.

Original story (12:40 p. m.)

A significant police presence is observed at the crash site, leading to traffic delays on Highway 400 just north of Barrie today.

On August 13, around 7:15 a. m., Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of a vehicle collision in the northbound lanes near the Highway 11 split just above the city limits, according to authorities.

Details remain sparse at this point; police indicated only one vehicle was involved and one occupant sustained “unknown injuries.”

A police tactical unit was visible as part of the ongoing investigation.

The OPP announced that lane closures will persist for an undetermined duration while they continue their inquiries.
