Norfolk County OPP investigate the murder of a woman in Simcoe on Oct. 5, 2025 (Sean Cowan/CHCH). A man from Simcoe has been accused of killing his 71-year-old mother and a 49-year-old man and is now facing more serious charges. Ontario Provincial Police announced that Justin Morgan has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder connected to the deaths of Barbara Morgan and Robert Sykes. On Oct. 5, Norfolk OPP found Barbara’s body at her home on Head Street in Simcoe. A postmortem examination showed that her death was classified as homicide. Sykes’ body was discovered 11 days later on Oct. 16 in a wooded area near Highway 6, just west of Caledonia. It was also determined that his death resulted from a homicide. Justin was arrested concerning his mother’s death and initially faced one second-degree murder charge. Now, OPP reports he will be up against two first-degree murder charges for both homicides. Morgan is currently in custody and is set to appear in court this Friday.
