The County of Simcoe has backed the completion of 112 housing projects through the 2025 age-friendly senior’s housing grant program, responding to the increasing need for accessible and age-friendly housing options throughout the area.
Since the Simcoe County Council set aside an annual budget of $500,000 in 2018, the program has helped move forward 559 accessible, adaptable, and inclusive housing projects that enable older adults to live safely and independently at home.
“Supporting older adults to live independently, safely, and comfortably is a priority for our Council,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “The Age-Friendly Seniors Housing Grant Program continues to make a meaningful difference across our communities by helping residents adapt their homes and improve accessibility.
“We are proud to invest in initiatives that enhance quality of life and allow seniors to stay in their homes and community longer.”
Eligible applicants include individuals and organizations that have completed qualifying housing projects within the County of Simcoe, excluding the cities of Barrie and Orillia.
The County will launch the 2026 Age-Friendly Housing Grant on March 1, 2026, with applications accepted until May 31, 2026.
