Bystander Aids Officer in Arrest; Gas Station Theft

Oxford County OPP hope the public may be able to identify a suspect who drove off from a gas station in Tillsonburg without making an attempt to pay.

A local resident helped a Haldimand County OPP officer with an arrest on Monday night.

Police received a call at around 8 p. m. on December 8, about someone possibly violating a court order. The suspect was found shortly after the call. Authorities state that the individual was not complying with a release order.

According to police, the suspect resisted arrest, prompting assistance from a passerby who stepped in to help the officer.

An 18-year-old from Caledonia has been charged with resisting a peace officer and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. The suspect is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on December 10, 2025.

Oxford County OPP are hoping someone can help identify a person who drove away from a gas station in Tillsonburg without paying for fuel.

Oxford County OPP are asking for the public’s assistance to find out more about a gas theft that occurred in Tillsonburg.

Police responded around 11:30 a. m. on Wednesday, December 3, at a business located on Tillson Avenue where an individual left without paying for gasoline they had pumped into their vehicle.

If you have any information related to this case or can identify the person involved in the theft, please contact Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. You can also provide information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and referencing report number E251629056.
