In partnership with Georgian Faculty, Empower Simcoe is happy to launch a transformative analysis challenge devoted to understanding and enhancing caregiver providers in our neighborhood.

This collaborative challenge features a complete neighborhood wants evaluation to higher assist unpaid caregivers in Simcoe County.

Who’re unpaid caregivers? They’re the heartfelt heroes in our lives — relations, buddies, and family members who present important day by day care for people going through numerous challenges, similar to bodily, mental, or developmental disabilities, medical situations, psychological well being points, or aging-related wants. In line with the Ontario Caregiver Group’s 2023 Highlight Report, over 4 million people in Ontario are at present offering care for somebody near them. Fifty-two per cent of caregivers specific a necessity for a well-deserved break, and 73 per cent fear about managing their caregiving duties sooner or later.

“To truly understand the needs of caregivers in Simcoe County, these talented research students from Georgian College are launching a community-wide survey and hosting focus groups specifically for unpaid caregivers. They’ll also engage with community service agencies to gather insights on the services that matter most,” says Empower Simcoe CEO Dr. Claudine Cousins. “This meaningful partnership with Georgian College will inform future program planning for Empower Simcoe’s Family Relief Program, steering respite and caregiver services towards achievable caregiver outcomes.”

Empower Simcoe invitations all unpaid caregivers in Simcoe County to take only a few minutes to finish the Simcoe County wants evaluation for unpaid caregivers by Dec. 6, 2024 and share their voice with us.
