Windsor police have shared the unfortunate outcome of a missing person’s investigation.
On Monday, authorities confirmed that human remains discovered in a remote part of northern Ontario belong to 37-year-old David Pavao.
“We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Pavao’s loved ones during this difficult time,” read a social media post from Windsor police.
Pavao was last seen on a street in west Windsor during the early morning hours of August 14, 2025. He went missing alongside a woman who has since been located. Police suspect that Pavao was murdered shortly after he disappeared.
A thorough search followed, covering large areas of Windsor-Essex, but it did not uncover any significant leads.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported in October 2025 that human remains were found in Black River-Matheson Township, east of Timmins.
Four men and one woman, aged between 27 and 61, have been arrested in relation to Pavao’s murder. The charges include first-degree murder, accessory after the fact to murder, indignity to a human body, mischief, and failure to comply with a release order.
The charges have not been proven in court.
