Two nearby hospitals are receiving provincial funding to extend the operating hours of their CT scanners.

On Friday, Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington, revealed a total of $2 million in funding for Listowel Memorial Hospital and Stratford General Hospital.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA), which manages Stratford Hospital, will receive $1,389,950, while Listowel Hospital will get $683,600.

The investments will support local hospitals and the operation of CT machines, as well as provide extra funds to decrease waiting lists for various surgeries including neurosurgeries, orthopedic procedures, gynecologic operations, cataract removals, hernia repairs, and pediatric surgeries.

“These funds will enable the HPHA team to improve access to care by reducing wait times for essential surgeries and CT scans, helping ensure patients receive the care they need when they need it most,” said Andrew Williams, President and CEO of HPHA.

This funding is part of a broader investment across Ontario aimed at supporting 324,000 additional CT hours across 86 hospitals in the province.
