The County of Perth has introduced that former Warden Jim Aitcheson has handed away.
The county made the announcement in a information launch issued Friday morning, saying it discovered of his passing “with profound unhappiness.”
Aitcheson was first elected to workplace in 2006, when he was elected because the councillor for Downie Ward within the Township of Perth South. He served in that place till 2022 when he was elected the Mayor of Perth South.
In complete he served 13 years on Perth County Council, three of them as Warden (2019-2022). It was throughout his time as Warden that he led the county by way of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with serving the neighborhood on council, Aitcheson was additionally a member of the Optimist Membership of Downie. His service to the neighborhood earned him the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 2010.
