Chatham-Kent earned $441,738 in casino earnings during the third quarter of the fiscal year.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corporation made this payment to the municipality for hosting Cascades Casino Chatham from October 1 to December 31. This amount is roughly $20,000 less than what was received in the second quarter, which spanned July to September.

Since 1994, communities with casinos in Ontario have benefited from non-tax gaming revenue provided by OLG.

“Year after year, a share of the revenue from Cascades Casino Chatham through OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement has been an important source of funding for Chatham-Kent, helping to deliver vital services and helping to enhance the quality of life of local residents,” said Trevor Jones, MPP for Chatham-Kent-Leamington. “Host communities benefit from their share of local casino revenue, while all Ontarians benefit from OLG’s gaming revenues, as 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested in communities across the province.”

In the first three quarters of this fiscal year, CK has received $1,378,344.

Since its opening in April 2001, the municipality has collected a total of $20,921,267.
