The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie has revealed significant funding for water infrastructure in Tara.

This financial support was announced alongside the provincial government. The funds will be used for rebuilding Elgin Avenue and Matilda Street.

The province will provide up to $1,845,409, covering 73 percent of the total eligible project expenses, while the municipality will take care of the remaining 27 percent. The overall estimated cost for this project is around $2,570,000.

Construction is scheduled for 2027, with engineering costs included in the 2026 municipal budget.

“Today’s announcement reaffirms our government’s commitment to rural communities like Arran-Elderslie,” said Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers. “Projects like this not only support the maintenance of critical water infrastructure; they create jobs and keep Ontario moving.”

“We’re really pleased to see this investment move forward. Strengthening our water infrastructure is one of those essential projects that residents don’t always see day-to-day, but it makes a big difference for the future of our community,” said Mayor Steve Hammell. “It’s great to be working alongside the Province to keep Arran-Elderslie moving in the right direction.”
