Southern Ontario is still under the chill of winter, and it looks like it’s going to stick around for a while longer.

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for extreme cold for the second time this week.

“Bitterly cold conditions are expected [Monday night] into Tuesday morning with wind chills near minus-25 to minus-30,” read the warning from Environment Canada. “Wind chill values will moderate through the day Tuesday, but are still expected to be minus-15 to minus-20.”

The wind chills might be driven down by gusts reaching 50 kilometres per hour.

This extreme cold can pose health risks. Those who may be more vulnerable include infants, young kids, seniors, individuals with chronic health issues, people working or exercising outside, and those without shelter.

Frostbite can occur within minutes in severe cold on exposed skin. Wearing layers and covering any bare skin is the best way to protect yourself.
