A surge of Arctic air is driving temperatures even lower across southwestern Ontario on Friday – impacting Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia-Lambton.

Wind chills could drop to between -30 and -35 degrees, according to Canada’s weather agency.

The coldest temperatures are expected in the morning.

Consequently, similar to earlier this week, Environment Canada issued a cold weather warning around 4 a. m. on Friday – marking its impact level as “moderate.”

“Cover up,” it said in an online statement. “Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.”

The weather agency advises that if it’s too chilly for you to be outside, then it’s also too chilly for your pet.

“Watch for colour changes on fingers and toes, pain, numbness, a tingling sensation, or swelling. If present, move indoors and begin warming.”
