NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF RICHMOND HILL
*************************
Join us for Richmond Hill’s Doors Open and Studio Tour, happening from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. on Saturday, May 9. Step into the places that help define our community.

This free event across the city invites both locals and visitors to discover intriguing spaces while experiencing our rich heritage and lively arts scene.

This year, you can explore at your own pace with an interactive Google Map that makes it easy to plan your visit. While you’re out and about, collect stamps at participating locations as part of the Passport to Culture for a chance to win a cultural prize pack from Richmond Hill.

Key Details for Doors Open

As part of Doors Open Ontario, Richmond Hill is offering access to various historic buildings, cultural spots, and community areas – many of which are not typically open to the public. Check out our new Cultural Centre and participate in engaging activities like an artist trading card workshop where you can create mini collages or try your hand at traditional decorative weaving known as Chinese knotting. Don’t forget to visit our newly set-up tea exhibit at the Richmond Hill Heritage Centre.

While exploring, make sure to check out the historic Village of Richmond Hill located on Yonge Street. Enjoy guided tours of the old Richmond Hill High School and take a look behind-the-scenes at the city’s archival collection. You can even try lawn bowling in one of our most historically significant parks or admire local artists’ work in one of the city’s earliest parishes.

Plan your outing by viewing participating sites at Richmond Hill. ca/Doors Open.

Key Details for the Studio Tour

Happening alongside Doors Open, the Studio Tour invites everyone to explore galleries, studios, and creative spaces throughout our community. Meet local artists, watch demonstrations, and learn more about their creative processes across various art forms.

The Studio Tour includes everything from painting and fused glass art to pottery, textiles, and photography – offering a unique chance to connect with local talent while experiencing Richmond Hill’s creativity up close.

Find out more about participating artists at Richmond Hill. ca/Studio Tour.
