York Regional Police report that a man was fatally shot in what is believed to be a targeted attack in Richmond Hill on Thursday evening.
Authorities were alerted to Parker Avenue close to King Road just before 7 p. m. regarding gunfire in the vicinity.
Constable James Dickson stated that when officers arrived, they found a man in his 40s on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot injuries.
“Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased on scene shortly after,” Dickson informed reporters Thursday night.
The victim has been identified as Issam Saad, 47, who resided in Richmond Hill.
Dickson mentioned that following the shooting, police received reports of a vehicle fire near King Road and Dufferin Street.
The authorities are currently searching for two suspects but have not released any descriptions yet.
A significant police presence is anticipated in the area overnight, with a command post established at Oak Ridges Public School.
The incident appears to be isolated and intentional, according to Dickson. “There is no immediate information to suggest there is any ongoing threat to safety.”
If anyone has information or footage related to this case, they are urged to reach out to the police.
