York Regional Police are investigating two violent carjackings that occurred over the span of lower than 24 hours in Richmond Hill final week.
Within the first incident, police say that the a sufferer was making an attempt to enter her car within the Freeway 7 and Freeway 404 space at round 7:45 p.m. on July 11 when she was approached by two suspects armed with a knife.
Police say that following a “short struggle” the suspects took the sufferer’s purse and fled the world in her car, in addition to a black four-door sedan.
The second incident is believed to be unrelated to the primary and occurred at round 4 a.m. on July 12 at a gasoline station within the Backyard Avenue and Yonge Avenue space, police say.
The sufferer in that incident instructed officers that three suspects ran in the direction of him as he tried to pay for gasoline.
When the sufferer tried to run away, police say that the suspects assaulted him, brandished firearms and threated to kill him.
All three suspects then fled within the sufferer’s car, police say.
Police haven’t launched detailed descriptions of any of the suspects up to now.
“Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident,” a information launch issued on Monday morning notes.
