Car theft suspect fatally stabbed in York Region, police say

York Regional Police are investigating the deadly stabbing of a person concerned in a car theft in Richmond Hill Thursday morning.

Round 6 a.m. Thursday, police say they have been known as to a neighborhood hospital after a person arrived with a stab wound. The sufferer was accompanied by two different males, police say, certainly one of whom left as quickly as they dropped off the sufferer.

The sufferer died shortly after, police say. His id remains to be unknown, police say, however police will share it with the general public as soon as it is confirmed. 

Investigators later decided the sufferer and two different males have been concerned in a car theft earlier that morning, at roughly 4:45 a.m. on Kersey Avenue, YRP spokesperson Const. Lisa Moskaluk mentioned Friday. 

The person who stayed on the hospital, a 19-year-old from Montreal, has been charged with theft of a motorcar over $5,000, Moskaluk mentioned. 

The stolen car was recovered later within the day Thursday, Moskaluk mentioned, in a Toronto underground car parking zone close to Weston Highway and Sheppard Avenue W. Video surveillance within the space confirmed an unknown suspect exit the car there and go away the realm on foot, she mentioned.

Moskaluk mentioned police have little info on the stabbing, together with the precise location the place it occurred, and are asking anybody with any info of the incident to return ahead.

She mentioned the male who left the hospital will not be presently a suspect within the car theft or stabbing, however police are hoping to talk to him. 

“We do not know his involvement,” she mentioned.

“He is simply somebody that we might like to speak to that will have details about the place this occurred, what occurred, and he might be able to fill in these blanks for us.”

Moskaluk mentioned police imagine the stabbing was an remoted incident and “there is no such thing as a concern or danger to the general public.”
