York Regional Police Service (YRPS) has charged two young men with human trafficking as part of an investigation into the disappearance of underage girls from Quebec.

Police released a statement on Saturday saying they got a tip on Jan. 27 that three missing girls might be in York Region and could possibly be facing sexual exploitation.

Within hours, officers located the girls at a home in Richmond Hill. Authorities say two of the girls were seen leaving the residence with a man in a vehicle.

Officers stopped the vehicle and took the man into custody.

Worried for the safety of the third girl, investigators entered the residence and found her safe.

A male youth was arrested at the scene.

The two males, one aged 23 and another aged 17, face charges related to controlling, exploiting, or allowing sexual activity involving minors, along with other offences.
