Transportation for college students in Renfrew County shall be again in service for the primary time this yr beginning on Monday.


Scholar transportation companies will resume for all Renfrew County bus companies together with, CF Vaundry Bus Strains, Holly Bus Strains, Musclow Bus Strains, Renfrew County Bus Strains, Valley Transportation, Switzer-Carty and Skelhorn Bus Strains.


Provincial police are reminding motorists of driving close to a stopped college bus and to train warning.


“It is the regulation – in case you encounter a stopped college bus that has its security lights and cease arm activated, you MUST cease earlier than reaching the bus and never proceed till the bus strikes or the protection lights and cease arm have been de-activated,” Ontario Provincial Police stated in a put up to social media.


The rule applies when assembly or following a faculty bus and consists of multi-lane roads.


“The one exception is when driving on a highway with a median – site visitors coming from the other way isn’t required to cease,” OPP stated.


Car homeowners will be charged if their automobile passes a stopped bus, even when they are not driving.


The penalty for failing to cease for a faculty bus is between $400 and $2,000 and 6 demerit factors for a primary offence.


Subsequent offences can carry fines between $1,000 and $4,000, six demerit factors and as much as six months in jail.


“And younger lives depend upon you, as a driver, to be paying consideration,” OPP stated.


Greater than 10,000 college students had been with out college bus service because the begin of the varsity yr after college bus corporations and the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) had been unable to achieve an settlement on a brand new contract.


On Oct. 7, the 2 sides reached an settlement with a tentative return to service date of Oct. 28.
