OPP involved about dashing on Freeway 17 between Arnprior and Renfrew

Provincial police are reporting a troubling pattern on Freeway 17 in Renfrew County.

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Freeway Security Division (HSD) and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) noticed a troubling pattern throughout a joint site visitors initiative on the freeway between Renfrew and Arnprior.

The initiative was performed between Friday, March 8 and Sunday, March 10, 2024, resulting in 53 charges being laid.

Police say 39 of these charges had been for dashing and three had been for stunt driving.

Charges:

Rushing: 39

Stunt Driving: 3 (speeds of 152km/h, 168km/h, & 171km/h)

No Insurance coverage: 2

Droop Drive: 2

Breach of POA Probation: 1

Drive No Licence: 1

Class G1 Licence Holder Unaccompanied: 1

No Muffler: 1

Paperwork / Allow: 2

Police additionally issued 10 warnings:

Rushing: 4

Following Too Intently: 1

Paperwork: 5

Police say three autos had been additionally impounded, a suspected stolen automobile was stopped with a rolling block, two stage 2 CVSA inspections had been accomplished and 750 contraband cigarettes had been seized.
