Ontario has plenty of getaway spots, from lively cities like Toronto to popular areas such as Muskoka. If you’re searching for a quieter, lesser-known destination to visit this summer, consider this charming lakeside village.

With lovely beaches, sunlit patios, and a peaceful vibe, it’s a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the warm weather.

Port Elgin is an adorable town located on the shimmering shores of Lake Huron.

Just under 3 hours from Toronto, it’s an ideal location to take in lake views and soak up those summer vibes.

The website describes it as “one of Ontario’s best kept vacation secrets,” featuring a cozy downtown area and stunning scenery.

A major attraction here is its six beautiful white-sand beaches and picturesque harbour that will make you feel like you’re on an exotic coastal retreat.

The Main Beach runs along a sun-kissed shoreline with glistening waves and soft sand.

Gobles Grove is known for offering “peace and quiet and less activity,” with gentle shallow waters perfect for a refreshing swim.

You can also check out Eidts Grove Beach, Shipley Beach, and Miramichi Bay.

Don’t forget to wear some comfy shoes! Port Elgin is famous as “Ontario’s hiking heaven,” boasting various hiking and biking trails.

You can also visit the nearby Mac Gregor Point Provincial Park where more scenic trails await along with a hidden beach.

You’ll definitely want to stay late to catch the colorful sunsets that are said to be “some of the most spectacular sunsets in all of Ontario.”

In the downtown area, there are cute local shops, restaurants with sunny patios, ice cream parlours, and so much more.

With its beachy charm and gorgeous sandy shores, Port Elgin truly is a summer treasure right here in Ontario.
