Pumpkin Drop 2024 Photo by Claire Mc Cormack The Port Elgin Pumpkinfest giant pumpkin drop is happening this weekend. This fun event, organized by the Saugeen Shores Community Church, will take place on Sunday, October 26th at 12:30 PM in the church’s side yard located at 650 Green Street in Port Elgin. The church typically uses a crane to drop large pumpkins and other veggies that growers leave behind. In past years, they’ve dropped them into a pool, onto a trampoline, on an old piano, and right onto the ground. There might even be an old hot tub included in this year’s activities. There’s also a candy drop for kids, along with a play area and some coffee and snacks available. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Living Hope Food Basket, so donations are welcome. Harvey Design and Build is sponsoring the event.
