Saugeen Shores is being recognized as one of the fastest growing communities in southwest Ontario, and the growth keeps going.
A new retail project in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores) is progressing with service infrastructure already completed and foundation work set to begin soon.
Construction begins
As per a developer partner, several lease agreements have been finalized for the Summerside Commercial property situated at Devonshire Rd. and Hwy. 21, right in front of the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Port Elgin.

This retail development will include two connected projects. At the corner of Devonshire Rd. and Hwy. 21, there will be a Shell gas station, a Nicholby’s convenience store, a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), and a car wash.
The second part of the project on the northern side will feature several dining options including:
Milestone Restaurants – a Canadian chain with around 25 locations across Ontario,
Rudy Burger – known for its griddled cheeseburgers, beef-tallow fries, and poutine, it has gained fame for its homemade comfort food since opening.
Two more food spots are planned but haven’t been announced yet.
The site owners anticipate that construction will kick off in Fall (2026) with an expected opening date in early 2027.
