New Tool Store Opens in Pickering, Ontario

A family-run business that’s well-loved by gardeners, crafters, and DIY fans across Canada is setting up shop in Pickering. Lee Valley Tools will be opening its doors in the Shops of Pickering Ridge plaza on September 20.

Lee Valley has built a strong reputation as a go-to retailer for quality tools. They offer everything from chisels, planes, and crosscut saws for woodworkers to garden hoses and pruning shears for gardeners, plus an interesting variety of other items like juice presses and camping gear.

This journey began as a small mail-order company in Ottawa back in 1978 and has grown into a national brand with nearly 20 locations throughout the country, welcoming everyone from beginners to seasoned pros.

The company also features its own manufacturing branch called Veritas Tools, designed specifically for carpenters, woodworkers, and DIY enthusiasts.

Lee Valley Tools has even made it onto Forbes’ Top 500 Employers list (2018) thanks to its commitment to the ‘pay slope’ policy that restricts high-level salaries based on the earnings of the lowest-paid employees.

Members of the media and invited guests will get an exclusive preview of the new store (located next to Cora’s) on September 19, where they can meet the team from Lee Valley.

The plaza is set for significant renovations over the next two decades with plans for mixed-use developments that will include seven high-rise buildings, some reaching up to 43 stories tall, along with both existing and new retail options.
