Pickering wants public feedback on Official Plan review

Pickering desires to listen to from residents on shaping the way forward for the town by collaborating within the Official Plan Overview course of.

Pickering is present process a evaluate of its Official Plan, often called ‘Pickering Forward,’ a crucial long-range doc that gives the framework for land use decision-making and accountable progress.

The Official Plan addresses the place new housing, business, and retailers will probably be situated; what companies will probably be wanted (equivalent to roads and parks); learn how to protect and improve the pure atmosphere whereas creating progress; and when, and in what order, the neighborhood will develop.

“As Pickering is projected to be one of Ontario’s growth leaders, a comprehensive review of the City’s Official Plan is crucial for addressing the evolving needs of our growing community and for building a robust framework to deliver essential infrastructure and amenities,” stated Mayor Kevin Ashe. “I encourage everyone to participate, learn more, complete the survey or attend a public information centre. Your valued input will be instrumental towards helping to shape the future of our community.”

Pickering wants public feedback on Official Plan review

To kickstart the dialog, the Metropolis has launched a dialogue paper and survey at LetsTalkPickering.ca/PickeringForward. All suggestions obtained will assist inform the most important matters within the Official Plan. Deadline to finish the survey is October 4.

These are invited to participate in one in every of two public info centres:

Tuesday, September 24 (6 p.m.) – Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complicated (no registration required)
Wednesday, September 25 (7 p.m.) – digital by way of Zoom (registration required at ca/PickeringForward)

The Planning Act of Ontario requires that Official Plans be reviewed each 5 years to make sure they conform to provincial laws and coverage, in addition to the Area of Durham’s Official Plan.
