A man from Bradford who was wanted in connection with a double shooting in Pickering, which left two individuals hospitalized last month, has been taken into custody.
Durham Regional Police responded to reports of gunfire in a parking lot at the intersection of Liverpool Road and Kingston Road on August 16. Officers arrived shortly after one a. m. and discovered two victims with gunshot wounds.
Both were transported to a trauma center in Toronto for treatment.
The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Mahiban Perinbanathan, who was arrested this week after police warned the public that he might be armed and dangerous. They advised anyone who saw him to avoid approaching him and to call 9-1-1 instead.
Perinbanathan faces charges of two counts of aggravated assault along with three firearm-related charges, including discharging a weapon with intent to cause harm.
