Lottery players in Pickering and rural Sunderland are feeling great after winning $100,000 and $90,000, respectively, in recent drawings.
Poonardai Chatterpaul from Pickering matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in the exact order during the August 20 Lotto 6/49 draw to claim $100,000. Meanwhile, William Lawrenson of Sunderland is celebrating his $90,000 win as he took home a top prize with The 90s instant lottery game.
Chatterpaul, who works in real estate, enjoys buying her tickets on OLG. ca. “I always throw in Encore because you just never know,” she mentioned while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings.
The 56-year-old said she was shocked when she got an email about her big win. “I couldn’t believe it,” she remembered. “I had to look twice!”
When she told her husband of 36 years the news, he was skeptical at first. “He said, ‘Yeah, right!’”
She’s still figuring out how to use her unexpected fortune.
Lawrenson, who is self-employed, shared that he’s been playing the lottery with OLG for two decades now. “I just picked up this ticket out of the blue,” he stated and added that he was stunned upon learning about his win. “I didn’t believe it at first,” he said. “I only shared the news with a few people.”
“This win feels pretty good!” smiled the 55-year-old Lawrenson. “I’ll put it in the bank and think about investing some.”
The winning ticket was bought at Freshmart on River Street in Sunderland.
