A woman has died and a man is in serious condition after a driver crashed into a bus shelter in Pickering on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
The accident took place around 2:30 p. m. at the intersection of Kingston and Brock roads, as detailed in a news release from the police on Thursday.
Authorities stated that a driver was heading west in a white Chevrolet Cruze when they collided with two other vehicles traveling in the same direction.
The Chevrolet then veered off the road, striking a bus shelter and two pedestrians before returning to the roadway and hitting another vehicle, as per the news release.
A 31-year-old woman was taken by paramedics to an air ambulance where she was pronounced dead, according to police. The second victim, a 26-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
All drivers involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, as mentioned in the news release.
