Peterborough Police are searching for a third suspect in a murder that occurred on December 6, who may be in Durham Region.

Authorities have stated that a third person connected to the homicide of a 33-year-old man earlier this month might currently be located in Durham Region.

The police have arrested two other individuals involved in the murder on December 18, and they are now in custody. The search continues for Michael Waterman, 44, who is wanted on charges of second-degree murder.

Additionally, three other individuals have been detained and face charges related to this case.

Officers from the Peterborough Police Investigative Services Unit, along with the Belleville Police Tactical Team, executed a warrant at a home in Belleville on December 18. They arrested 28-year-old Peter Pople from Peterborough and charged him with second-degree murder.

On the same day, police located and arrested 29-year-old Kaya Coughlin at Trinity Community Centre in Peterborough.

Both individuals made their initial court appearances on December 19.

Authorities are actively seeking tips regarding Waterman’s location and encourage anyone with information to reach out to the Peterborough Police Crime Line at (705) 876-1122 x555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www. stopcimehere. ca

“Although this was an isolated incident, it nevertheless strikes at the heart of public safety, and a community’s feelings of being safe,” said Peterborough Police Chief Stuart Betts, who thanked Belleville Police for their help in making the first two arrests. “Locating, arresting and bring those believed responsible before the court has been a top priority and is critically important to the victim’s family and our community as a whole.”
