The Ontario government is putting $250,000 towards senior programs in the Peterborough area. This funding is part of the Seniors’ Community Grant program that focuses on enhancing the wellbeing of seniors and reducing social isolation. The Activity Haven seniors’ centre in Peterborough is one of seven local organizations to benefit from this funding. Other recipients include Selwyn Public Library, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes Northumberland and Haliburton; Havelock Belmont Methuen Seniors Senior Tech Connect; Peterborough New Horizons Bands and VON Peterborough Victoria Haliburton. More than $23,000 will be designated for Activity Haven’s “Lift for life” program, which supports seniors dealing with osteoporosis.
